Today human beings witness considerable changes with the advent of information technology in all parts of lie. Universities and centers of education keeps growing fast with information technology. This phenomenon has completely evolved traditional education.

With invention of computers, Internet and the World Wide Web in the last decade of twentieth century, students now adopt new ways of learning. This new way of education uses technology and new communication tools to enhance academic knowledge based on accepted standards and criteria, which are formed based on the needs, objectives and realities of the societies.

Though new, modern technologies facilitate swift learning and education and has made dramatic changes in levels of education and methods of learning. Ghalib university along with contemporary developments in technology, has launched the E-learning committee.

Objectives of the E-Learning Committee:

  1. To institutionalize quality and responsive higher education at Ghalib University;
  2. To draw on modern educational technologies at the University;
  3. To standardize the University’s education systems;
  4. To contribute in standardizing higher education in the country and in the region;
  5. To ensure justice in e-learning and in-person education and learning;

Members of the E-Learning Committee :

  1. The E-learning committee is stablished at the University level and members include from each faculty:
  2. One member nominated by the faculties as chairperson;
  3. One member from each faculty as members;
  4. Head of the University’s MIS department as a member;
  5. One member from IT department as a member;

Membership duration and how meetings of the committee are convened:

  1. Members of the E-Learning Committee are selected for a period of two years;
  2. Approvals for equipment which supports E-Learning education after endorsed by the academic vice chancellor are sent to finance and administration department;
  3. Approvals are made based on the relative majority votes of the present members;
  4. Meetings are convened once per month;
  5. Decisions in the committee are made based on the relative majority votes of the present members;
  6. Meetings are convened when half of the members plus one extra member of the committee are present;

Roles and Responsibilities of the E-Learning Committee include:

  1. To develop and plan short term training workshops in order to improve lecturers teaching capacities and abilities, this is done based on the needs assessment;
  2. To conduct special training workshops based on needs of the University;
  3. To offer and present teaching syllabus virtually and in mixed ways;
  4. To maintain close contacts with other units of the University, other state and non-state institutions in order to identify education needs and form education material and curriculum;
  5. To make teaching contents for virtual classes;
  6. To archive the teaching contents for virtual classes;
  7. To hold training sessions proposed by the members of the academic council of the University based on the available resources;
  8. To encourage members of the academic council and administration units of the University to support the training workshops;
  9. To make new agreements and sign memorandum of understandings with other relevant institutions for virtual training sessions;
  10. To market and advertise the training sessions through website and contact list of the University;
  11. To control and monitor the quality of the virtual training sessions;
  12. To organize and arrange virtual conferences with partner institutions;
  13. To create a permanent portal for virtual training sessions on the website;
