Headed by the academic vice chancellor, the quality assurance committee is responsible to oversee the overall activities of the committee at the University level. To better organize activities of the committee, one of the lecturers is appointed as head of the committee to ensure quality educations in accordance to procedures and terms of references.
Head of the committee is responsible to oversee activities of sub-committees at the University level and is also responsible to report about their performance to the academic vice chancellor of the University. The University quality improvement committee in collaboration with sub-committees conducts self-assessments (for lecturers and the overall university level) to identify weaknesses and reports them to the academic vice chancellor office. The office not only addresses the challenges but also ensures lecturers works towards addressing the challenges too. Using these assessments, the University makes any efforts to not only meet academic and administrative standards set out by the Ministry of Higher Education but it also tries to offer education services in line with international research centers and universities.
In addition to the University quality improvement committee, there are sub-committees established every faculty that preforms their duty in accordance to procedures and guidelines outlined by the University committee.
Members of the University quality improvement committee:
- Academic Vice Chancellor as chairperson;
- Other vice chancellors of the University as members;
- Heads of the faculties as members;
- Head of the committee as secretary of the committee;
Membership duration and how meetings are conducted:
- Members of the quality improvement committee are selected for a duration of one year;
- Academic vice chancellor approves and ensures execution of the decisions made during the meetings;
- Meetings are convened once per month. Extraordinary meetings of the committee can also be hold as required and called for by the chairperson;
- Decisions in the committee are made based on the relative majority votes;
- Meetings are convened when half plus one members of the committee are present;
These are the roles and responsibilities of the University quality improvement committee:
- To develop and implement programs related to quality improvement and accreditation;
- To pay close attention to academic and education quality improvement affairs of the University;
- To oversee the self-assessment mechanisms of the University, faculties and departments;
- To prepare the University’s self-assessment report;
- To organize and facilitate workshops on quality improvement;
- To prepare any required documents for the committee based on academic and administrative assessments of the University as well as the self-assessments of the faculties;
- To propose key members for the self-assessment committee of the University to the academic council;
- To specify tasks and duties of members of the self-assessment committee;
- To make decisions regarding timely preparation of required documents for quality improvement;
- To determine sub-committees at the faculty level;
- To make appropriate decisions on conducting workshops and group works about accreditation and self-assessment processes;
- To develop, design, amend and approve assessment forms and questionnaires in accordance to defined criteria;
- To gather data and information with dignity and in a transparent way on administrative and academic affairs of the University;
- To assigns roles and responsibilities for analysis of data and information obtained during the assessments;
- To present and publish findings of the assessments to faculties and sub-committees;
- To identify challenges and barriers during the assessment and to present constructive plans for addressing them;
- And to preform other tasks and responsibilities asked according to the bylaw and procedures;
Members of the sub-committees of quality improvement:
- Dean of the faculty as the chairperson;
- Deputy dean of the faculty as secretary of the committee (in absence of a deputy, one of the heads of the department will take the role of the secretary);
- Heads of the departments as members of the committee;

- Decisions of the sub-committees are proposed to the University quality improvement committee for discussion and approval;
