The faculty of Economics offer day and evening classes. The organizational structure of faculty includes head of the faculty, head of the department of business administration, students’ affairs officer and lecturers of the faculty. Head of the faculty is the chairperson of the academic council, quality improvement committee, the disciplinary committee, the quality improvement committee, the academic research committee, and the publications and cultural committee of the faculty.
Faculty of Economics was opened when Ghalib University was established in 2010. The faculty has two departments: Business Administration and Banking and Finance both in Herat and Kabul but currently the department of business administration is operational. So far, four rounds of students have graduated from the department who have obtained good jobs in the labor market.

Economic activities are one important aspects of human life. In human societies whether in the past or present, human well-being and access to more and better material resources has been one main aspiration of human kind. Therefore, teaching of economics is crucial in educating people on better economic choices. Economics help human beings to seek better ways for using their limited resources for desired results.
In developing countries where resources are not utilized, investments are either stagnant or good investments doesn’t happen. So economists and development experts are needed to make best use of the limited resources.

Since economics encompasses different specializations those who majors in this field of studies have access to bright job opportunities in the labor market. In this discipline optimization is the main aim. Economics is an applied discipline especially since today the main conflicts in the World are over natural resources like water, oil, energy, land, etc. Thus resource related markets are the main labor markets for those who study economics.
It is noteworthy to mention that the future job market for those graduating from economics is bright; graduates of the discipline develops critical knowledge base and can be selective in where they want to apply their skills. Except some specific jobs, the graduates can work both in the private and government sectors or they can launch their own businesses.
Hence in order to tap on these job opportunities one needs to study economics in a credible university. An accredited university that offers standard education in economics helps one develop specific sets of skills that leads to innovations and improved capacities.

Department of Business Administration
Department of Business Administration was opened when the faculty was established in 2011. It comprises eight semesters with a total of 142 credit hours. Each semester is composed of 16 weeks. It noteworthy that there are two semesters taught each year. Students who successfully fulfills these requirements will be eligible for graduation from the department.
The Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration is a degree in higher education that aims to educated human resources and workforce needed in the private and public sectors. Students majoring in Business Administration will learn theories and practice in the field and they will be able to meet the needs of the institutions of public and private sectors. Business Administration is a critical component in managing a business; only when a company has a good business manager it can build strong and good business relationships with its customers. The person who manages a business or an enterprise strives to attract customers and introduces their services and goods. Generally, business manager is one who plays a critical role in making profit or a loss for their firm.
Business Administration is a field of study in higher education, which aims to educate human resources required by the institutions, entities, private enterprises and public administration with their work orientation.
University-wide Department:
This department manages those general courses that are taught in all departments across the University. Faculty of Economics leads this department. Course like Islamic Studies (taught in all 8 semesters), English, Contemporary History of Afghanistan, and Dari are those courses taught in all disciplines. For it is crucial for all students to learn about these courses, therefore they are part of curriculum and course work in all fields of study.

Courses: Categories and Percentages:
All courses are classified based on instructions of the ministry of higher education in three categories that are university-wide courses, core courses and degree (specialization) courses. All courses make up 142 credit hours of which 41 credit hours (29%) are core courses, degree or specialization courses make up 84 credit hours (59 %) and the university-wide course that make up 17 degree or specialization courses (12%).
Resources and Facilities:
A) Human Resources:
The faculty of economics has sufficient human resources. Professional and well-experienced professors provide lectures and support students with their research projects and papers. In addition to teaching and taking part in academic affairs of the faculty, these professors are also engaged in improving quality of education and supervision through different committees. The faculty has also appointed sufficient number of support staff in the information technology facilities of the faculty that provides hands on support to the professors and students alike.
B): Physical Resources:
The faculty always attempts to provide students with equipment, resources and technology they need to succeed in their pursuit of education. Classrooms at Ghalib University are equipped state-of-the-art technologies such as computers, projectors and loudspeakers. In addition, a library with rich resources in economics studies is open six days a week for students to use for their research works.
